Contentful Acceptable Use Policy

The rights granted to a Customer to access and use the Contentful Services are subject to Customer’s compliance with the following:

Customer will not and will not allow or encourage others to:

  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, create derivative works of or otherwise create, attempt to create or derive, or permit or assist any third party to create or derive, the source code underlying the Contentful Services;
  • transfer, distribute, resell, lease, license, or assign Contentful Services or otherwise offer the Contentful Services or any part of the Contentful Services on a standalone basis;
  • attempt to bypass or break any security mechanism in any of the Contentful Services or use the Contentful Services in any manner that poses a security or service risk to Contentful or to any user of the Contentful Services;
  • use temporary or publicly accessible email addresses or share user accounts among multiple individuals or disclose access credentials to any third party;
  • use the Contentful Services
    • to process personal data other than personal data that Customer has the right to process in the Contentful Services, and in any case not use the Contentful Services to process any special categories of personal data or other such categories of sensitive data (as these are defined in applicable laws), or any regulated data;
    • in violation of applicable laws and regulations or third-party rights;
    • for purposes of high-risk applications, such as in hazardous environments requiring fail-safe performance, for example operation of nuclear facilities, aircraft navigation or communication systems, air traffic control, life support, weapons systems or in any other application the function or malfunction of which could result in death, personal injury or physical or environmental damage;
    • in a way that will adversely affect the availability, reliability or stability of the Contentful Services (including denial of service attacks);
    • for the purposes of competitive evaluation or research;
    • for illegal purposes or purposes otherwise outside the scope expressly permitted, including transferring content that violates intellectual property rights, trade secrets, export controls or other trade restrictions;
    • to transmit any material that contains viruses, trojan horses, worms or any other malicious, harmful, or deleterious programs or code;
    • to display, transmit or otherwise make available material that is pornographic, obscene, indecent, vulgar, threatening, harassing, libelous, hateful, racially or ethnically objectionable, unlawful, tortious or harmful to children; or
    • in any manner that violates any applicable third party policies or requirements that Contentful has communicated to Customer (such as Amazon Web Services use policies), if any.
