Contentful January developer update

201811 developer update asset

I hope you've had a great holiday season and 2019 is off to a good start. We're kicking off the year with an update full of new features, articles about GraphQL, and information about our Meetups for this quarter.

Dynamic schema generation for changing data models

Stephan Schneider, a JavaScript backend developer at Contentful, wrote a great post on our blog about how our GraphQL implementation takes your content model and generates a schema for you to utilize. In the article he runs through the design decisions and concerns our GraphQL team had to wrestle with as they built out our GraphQL API. I found it a really interesting view on our GraphQL implementation and some of the differences compared to other implementations.

Apps Alpha

We wrapped up 2018 with the alpha launch of Contentful's Apps feature. Building on webhooks and UI extensions that enabled customization and integration, Apps deepen those possibilities by combining existing mechanisms with new functions to enable more powerful use cases. This is all orchestrated through the user-friendly Contentful web app. The Apps alpha kicks off with Netlify and Algolia integration. Alpha access is currently limited to selected organizations, but we're really excited to share what we're working on.

Contentful visits a city near you!

It's a new year, so that means it's time for a new round of Meetups. This quarter we'll be bringing Contentful Meetups to London, Berlin, NYC, Toronto, Stockholm, Amsterdam, and Helsinki. Head over to our events page for all the details and links to sign up. If you're based in NYC and want to grab a coffee and chat about Contentful, then check out my Calendly!

That's it for this month. We're all looking forward to hearing about what you create this year. As always, feel free to let us know what you're working on and we'd be happy to share it with the rest of the Contentful community.
