About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Reporting Analyst (f/m/d) to join our Product Analytics team. In this role, you'll build insightful dashboards and handle ad-hoc analyses, primarily using Tableau, to support effective decision-making around engineering productivity. You will work closely with Engineering Managers and Program Managers, responding to key queries about software development performance, resource allocation, and operational efficiency. Your analysis will directly inform operational decisions within our Engineering organization.
What to expect?
- Monthly Reporting: Build dashboards in Tableau that clearly visualize engineering productivity and operational performance metrics and create monthly reports in document and slide format.
- Data Wrangling and Integration: You’ll start by working with downloadable datasets from tools like JIRA and GitHub, and over time, work with our Analytics Engineer to build an ingestion pipeline.
- Ad-hoc Analysis: Respond to on-demand questions regarding sprint performance, developer productivity, bug resolution, and capital expenditure from software development.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Work closely with our Engineering Managers and Program Managers, and engage directly with Engineering leadership.
- Continuous Improvement: Support efforts to expand the scope of productivity metrics to include deployment processes, incident tracking, and other engineering operations over time.
- Documentation: Our stakeholders are best equipped to use the reports and dashboards we produce if they are well documented, and you will be expected to ensure all documentation is kept up to date.
What you need to be successful
Critical:
- Professional Background: 2-4 years of business experience. This experience does not need to have been in an Analyst role but you will still need to demonstrate the critical skills below.
- Quantitative Thinking: Comfortable working with quantitative data, a basic understanding of statistics, able to identify trends and outliers, and accurately report findings.
- Data Wrangling: Capable of cleaning, transforming, and integrating data from multiple sources to support clear reporting.
- Visualization Skills: Proficient in Tableau (or similar tools) to create dashboards that deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Workplace Tools: Confident using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides—or equivalent—for collaboration and reporting.
- Stakeholder Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills to understand needs, gather requirements, and present findings effectively.
Desirable:
- SQL and Warehousing: Familiar with SQL and querying enterprise-scale data warehouses such as Redshift.
- Python & Notebooks: Exposure to Python and the use of Jupyter notebooks for exploratory analysis.
- Problem Solving: Able to structure problems, propose practical solutions, and follow through to deliver outcomes that meet stakeholder needs.
- Software Development Familiarity: Awareness of software engineering practices and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Tool-Specific Knowledge: Understanding of data from productivity tools like JIRA and GitHub.
