Google Analytics UA (Deprecated)
The Google Analytics App, which connects to your Google Analytics account to show page view reports alongside your Contentful content, is now deprecated. Furthermore, new installations of the Google Analytics App are unlikely to work correctly at this time.
Recently, Google announced support changes that impact the libraries Contentful uses to display page analytics alongside Contentful content entries. The deprecation and discontinuation of support described above will affect users of Contentful's Google Analytics App in the following ways:
Existing installations will continue to function until July 1, 2023.
New installations, which require a "Google OAuth Client ID," are not possible, since the current app will not function with Client IDs created after July 29, 2022.
Contentful will continue to support existing installations until the service is fully deprecated
Contentful is committed to providing integrations that enrich the content editing experience through data and analytics. We will continue supporting Google Analytics, as well as other analytics providers, in the future, and plan to introduce a Google Analytics 4 compatible integrationa as soon as possible.
If you have questions about the Google Analytics application, or would like to request other analytics solutions, please contact support or your Customer Success Manager.
About the Google Analytics app
Each content entry linked on any page that gets traffic with a URL is tracked with the Google Analytics (GA) app in Contentful. Editors can simply look at the performance of each content piece instead of trawling through lengthy GA account reports.
This is useful for teams that use different space environments. The app narrows down the reports and data to individual content pieces, content types, and entries.
- Embed specific content reports in the sidebar
- Link directly to Google Analytics report for the entry page
To use this app, you will need:
- Google project ID
- Content type(s) with a slug field
- Google Analytics property
The app does not support Google Analytics 4 properties.
