Adobe Experience Manager Asset Selector
Select and manage Adobe Experience Manager assets without leaving Contentful.
About the Adobe Experience Manager Asset Selector app
The Adobe Experience Manager Asset Selector integrates Contentful with your AEM as a Cloud Service Assets repository to streamline how DAM assets are found and attached to content. Instead of leaving Contentful to search AEM, download files, or hunt down asset paths, editors can browse, search, and select approved AEM assets directly from within a Contentful entry field. The app opens Adobe's own Content Advisor picker inside Contentful, so editors work with the same asset browsing experience they'd get in AEM, without the copy-paste, duplication, or version-mismatch risks of manually re-uploading media.
Features
- Native AEM asset browsing: Opens Adobe's Content Advisor picker directly inside a Contentful entry field, so editors search and browse the connected AEM repository without switching tools.
- Sort and manage selections: Reorder or remove selected assets from the entry field after they've been added, without reopening the picker.
- Secure Adobe IMS authentication: Editors sign in through Adobe's own IMS (Identity Management System) OAuth flow, so asset access follows the same permissions as AEM.
- Governance controls: Scope the picker to a specific AEM repository, tier, or environment, and optionally hide the in-picker upload button to keep editors selecting from approved assets only.
Use Cases
- Multi-Brand / Multi-Market Asset Reuse: Contentful's structured content + localization model lets teams reuse the same AEM-approved imagery consistently across markets and brand sites, something monolithic CMSes struggle to coordinate without duplicating files.
- Campaign & Content Production: Highest-volume use case for enterprise marketing and creative teams. Pulling approved AEM assets straight into Contentful entries removes the download/re-upload step that slows down production.
- Brand & DAM Governance: Restricting the picker to specific repositories and hiding the upload button keeps editors selecting only from assets that have cleared brand and legal review in AEM.
Other use cases:
- Product Detail Pages
- Localized Marketing Pages
- Editorial / Blog Imagery
- Multi-Site Content Reuse
Requirements
To use this app you will need:
- Space Admin access to the Contentful space where you are installing the app.
- An AEM as a Cloud Service instance with Assets enabled.
- An Adobe IMS Client ID, requested directly from Adobe support. Client IDs created through the standard Adobe Developer Console are not compatible with Content Advisor and will not authenticate.
- Your Adobe IMS Organization ID (visible in the Admin Console URL at adminconsole.adobe.com/<OrgID>/overview).
- Adobe allowlisting for this app's hosted origin. Submit https://31a0d146-8411-4c45-8df6-f0240ccc085e.ctfcloud.net/ to Adobe support to be added to the IMS Client ID's origin allowlist. Authentication will fail silently (the login popup opens and closes immediately) until this is completed, so do this before testing the picker.
