Introduction to Third party orchestration

NOTE: The Third party orchestration feature is currently only available to customers through our Early Access Program (EAP).

Introduction to Third party orchestration

Third party orchestration is a feature designed to boost digital teams and developer productivity. It connects content from everyday systems and makes it available for use in Contentful. This allows teams to spend more time on creating engaging digital experiences.

As a first step towards making this possible, we have addressed one of the most common problems of having content in multiple platforms — retrieving it from the systems it lives in.

Since Shopify is one of the most popular ecommerce platforms on our Marketplace, we chose it to enable Third party orchestration for, with more Marketplace apps coming soon.

Early Access Program

To make this an easy-to-use and comprehensive feature, we have released it on an Early Access Program (EAP). With the EAP, we aim to capture your feedback when using it so we can improve it.

NOTE: Our Early Access Program will run for a limited time and is open to our customers who also use Shopify as their ecommerce provider. Apply for the program using the sign-up form.

Once accepted, you will receive a welcome email with more details.

How to get started with Third party orchestration

Once your organisation is added to the EAP, you can start using Third party orchestration with Shopify.

To get started:

  1. If you don’t already have the Shopify app set up, install it from our marketplace to your organisation. For more information about the Shopify app and installation instructions, see Shopify.

  2. If you already have the Shopify app set up, adjust your queries to our GraphQL API to request the additional product information from Shopify. For more details on how to adjust your queries, see the Third party orchestration page in the developer documentation.

Full details can be found on our API documentation.
