Analytics

NOTE: Contentful Analytics is currently in beta. Reach out to your sales representative for more information about feature availability.

Overview

Contentful Analytics helps you turn your content data into clear dashboards that provide actionable insights about your content performance. It is a powerful tool that can be used to increase the value and optimization of your content lifecycle based on data-driven decisions.

Analytics combine content data, engagement data and customer data connecting the entire content lifecycle from planning to delivery to optimization.

Prerequisites

  • A Contentful account

  • The Contentful Personalization app must be installed and configured for Analytics

Important: You do not need a Contentful Personalization license for Analytics to work. Contentful Analytics is a standalone product that can be used with any content, not just personalized content.

  • The Experience SDK  must be installed. Make sure you are using at least version 7.17.6 of the SDK.
The SDK provides a new component, EntryAnalytics, that you can use to add analytics to components that are not part of an experience. Note that you do not need to include the experiences property when using this component.

NOTE: Analytics cannot display any data if the Contentful Personalization app is not properly configured.

Once the Contentful Personalization app is installed and properly configured, analytics are displayed on the “Optimization” tab of the Contentful web app.

Contentful Analytics - Beta

With Contentful Analytics, you can:

  • Optimize while content is still relevant: Spot underperforming pieces of content while there's still time to adjust headlines, update CTAs, or redistribute across channels.

  • Recognize successful patterns on an entry-level, not a page-level: Identify which content types, topics, formats, or structural elements resonate with your audience, and replicate those patterns.

  • Make benchmark-driven decisions: Understand what constitutes good performance for your specific content and goals, moving beyond vanity metrics to actionable insights.

  • Share context across teams: Performance insights live within your content workflow, making it easy to share data-driven feedback with writers, designers, and stakeholders.
