Create a template for Templated spaces

To update the content model for your Templated spaces, you must create and install a template for Templated spaces.

NOTE: Every time you update the content model in the Template modeling space, you must create a new version of the template, add the content type you updated, and save and install it in the Templated spaces.

To create a template for Templated spaces:

1. Log in to the Contentful web app.

2. Click the environment switcher.
   

   

3. Click the organization name, and select Organization settings & subscriptions.

4. Navigate to the "Model templates" tab. The Content model templates overview page is displayed.
   

   

5. Select Create template. The “Name your content model template” modal is displayed.
   

   

6. Give the template a descriptive name to help others locate it easily later.

7. Optional: Add a description based on its purpose.

8. Select the Use for Templated spaces option.
   

   Important: Once the template is created, you can no longer change its type.

9. Click Create template. The template editor is displayed.

10. On the “Content types” tab, choose the Space that contains the content types relevant for your Templated spaces.

11. Select the Environment from where you want to add content types to your template for Templated spaces.

12. After selecting the space and environment, the content types available in the chosen options are displayed. You can select them individually, or click Add all.
    

    

    NOTE: You can add up to 200 content types to a template for Templated spaces.

13. Once you are done adding your content types, you can double-check if you added the correct ones from the “Content model template” tab.

14. If everything looks good, click Create template. The “Save Version” modal is displayed.
    

    

15. In the Version name field, enter a relevant name for the template version.

16. Optional: Add a suggestive description to help other users in your organization know what exactly this template version contains, or how it might have changed from the previous version.

17. Click Save. This will create a snapshot of the template.

After you create the template for Templated spaces, it is displayed on the "Versions" tab, where you can install it.

Limitations

• You can’t change the template type once it’s created.

• You can only add up to 200 content types to a template for Templated spaces.

• You can only have two versions installed at the same time, across all environments.

• You cannot disconnect a template for Templated spaces from a Templated space environment. The only way to disconnect a template from a Templated space will be to delete the template.
