Configure experience live preview

This documentation relates to Experience Orchestration, the name of an internal program focused on developing several new capabilities for the Contentful platform. It is not a standalone new product. The materials shared here are intended exclusively for customers and partners participating in the Design Partner Program and reflect our current direction at this stage of development; as the program continues to evolve toward general availability, details may change. These materials are confidential and not for onward distribution.

To create a preview for Experience Orchestration:

  1. Log in to the Contentful web app.

  2. In the navigation pane, click Settings and under the Space Settings, select Content Preview.

  3. In the Content Preview page, click +Create preview platform.

  4. Enter a custom name for your preview in the Preview platform name field.

  5. Optional: In the Description field, enter a custom description.

  6. In the Select one entity type field, select the entity type option to set up a preview for:

    • Component - Select this entity type to set up a preview for fragments.

    • Template - Select this entity type to set up a preview for experiences.

      NOTE: A preview platform can be created for only one entity type. You must set up one preview platform for fragments and another for experiences.

  7. Click + Add Preview URL and select the preview URL type according to the following options:

    • Fallback URL - Select this option to add a preview URL for all new and existing components/templates. Enter your preview URL.

    • Target URLs - Select this option to add a preview URL for a selected one or multiple component(s)/template(s). After entering the preview URL, select the desired component(s)/template(s) by checking the boxes in the drop-down. Repeat the step to add another target URL

      NOTE: Target URLs override the fallback URL.

  8. Optional: Click View available tokens to review the tokens that can be used in preview URLs to include specific field values of your entries.

  9. Click Save to save the preview platform.

NOTE: One fallback URL can be added for each preview platform. Each entity can be assigned to one target URL.
