Create experience
This documentation relates to Experience Orchestration, the name of an internal program focused on developing several new capabilities for the Contentful platform. It is not a standalone new product. The materials shared here are intended exclusively for customers and partners participating in the Design Partner Program and reflect our current direction at this stage of development; as the program continues to evolve toward general availability, details may change. These materials are confidential and not for onward distribution.
What is an experience?
An experience contains the content and presentation data for a digital experience, such as a web page, and lets marketers manage both in Contentful. An experience is a root-level entity that is instantiated from a template. A template defines the structure and shape of an experience.
Marketers configure experiences within guardrails set up by designers. Designers define which templates, slots, fragments, bindings, and design properties are exposed to marketers.
Experience actions
In an experience, marketers can:
Author:
Select a template and create a new experience from it.
Assemble the experience structure by adding, removing, and reordering components in the experience editor.
Populate slots with allowed fragments and components according to the template/component rules.
Bind content - Hydrate experiences or components with content according to the preconfigured binding rules.
Configure design - Adjust the design properties available in the experience.
Publish - Preview, save changes, and publish experiences.
Set up personalization and experimentation - Create experience variants for personalization/experimentation.
Add an experience
To create a new experience:
Log in to the Contentful web app.
In the Create area of the navigation pane, click Experiences and select All experiences.
Click + Create Experience.
In the Name field, enter a custom name for your experience.
In the Folder field, add your experience to a folder by either selecting an existing folder or clicking + Create new folder to add a new one.
In the Select a template field, select a template that you would like your experience to be based on.
